In the last article, we explained what business partners are in S/4 HANA. How they facilitate the management of master data and how you can protect them. Today we will take a step-by-step look at how to create and maintain business partners.
First open the BP transaction in the SAP menu. You now have the option of creating a business partner, which can be different. You can choose between the options “Person, Organization or Group.

In this example, we want to create a customer and use the “Organization” option to do so. A window then opens in which all sensitive customer data can be entered. Once this has been entered in full, a number is automatically assigned to the business partner via the data backup and the general business partner role is created in the system at the same time. Intelligent abbreviations for the business partner name can be entered in the “Search” field to make searching easier.

A business partner role must now be selected for the customer. In the “Change BP role” field, you can now select any role for this business partner. In our example, we now want to maintain financial data for the business partner and use the “New customer” role for this. The business partner number is now entered here and the account group “CUST” is automatically assigned for the customer.

Further maintenance of customer data
Other important customer data must now be maintained. By clicking on the Company code field, you can define a company code for the business partner (or in our example, the customer).

Terms of payment
The terms of payment for the customer can be defined in the Customer payment transactions area. Reminders can also be stored in the Customer correspondence area.

Reminders for the debtor
Reminders can also be stored in the customer correspondence area.

Debtor Status
Posting blocks or deletion blocks for the customer can be defined in this tab. This can be easily maintained here with a tick.
